Boxer Dog Pic

Boxer Dog pic galleries feature medium-sized, muscular, and well-boned dogs with a somewhat formidable appearance. The ancestor of the breed, the Bullenbeiser, was a large Molosser-type dog that for many centuries was used for hunting big game. These dogs attacked deer, boars, and bears and held them until the hunter arrived. To perform such a task, the dogs had to be fearless, powerful, and able to make independent decisions. In the 19th century, large game disappeared from European forests and there was no need in large and powerful dogs. The Bullenbeiser was bred down by crossbreeding with the English Bulldog. Nowadays, the Bullenbeiser is extinct, and the Boxer dog is one of its descendants.

The characteristic appearance of the Boxer was much influenced by the English Bulldog. It’s evident by a Boxer Dog pic that the muzzle of the Boxer looks much like the muzzle of the Bulldog. While the muzzle of the Bulldog is so exaggerated that it causes breathing difficulties, Boxers have a longer muzzle. Still, a shortened nose effects the thermoregulation of Boxers. It means that these dogs should not be over exercised in hot, humid weather and should be kept indoor when it’s cold.

The preferred coat colors in this breed are fawn and brindle of various shades from light golden to red and seal. If you see a solid black Boxer Dog pic, you can be sure the dog is not purebred, as there is no gene that gives black coat color in this breed. Some Boxers have white markings or “flash.” According to the AKC breed standard, these dogs may have only a few white marks on the face, neck, and legs. The AKC disqualifies dogs with more than one-third of white markings. Solid white dogs are prone to health defects, because the gene giving white color is linked to deafness and other hereditary conditions.

Like in most other breeds, the appearance is of secondary importance in the Boxer. Its personality, intelligence, trainability, and working abilities are of the utmost importance. This breed makes good guards, personal protectors, and family companions. It excels in obedience and agility. In a Boxer Dog pic, you cannot see the best features of the breed.
